Moving 34,000+ retailers onto digital ordering

Launch communications for MyCCBA, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa's new digital B2B channel, where retailers order online and check their accounts on WhatsApp. We ran the adoption drive across WhatsApp, email and SMS.

The goal

Get South Africa's independent retailers onto MyCCBA: registered on the new portal, ordering online, and managing their accounts via WhatsApp, across a targeted base of 60,937 customers.

The problem

A digital channel only pays off if retailers actually switch to it. The base spans spaza shops to cash & carry to liquor distributors, tens of thousands of busy store owners with long-standing ordering habits and no reason to change them unless the new way reaches them where they already are.

What we did

We ran the adoption communications across the channels retailers actually live on, WhatsApp, SMS and email, driving registration and repeat usage. Messaging was segmented by trade channel, and performance was tracked weekly against registration and usage targets so the programme could be steered, not just reported.

The outcome
  • 0134,694 of 60,937 targeted retailers registered, 57% of the entire base
  • 02Five national trade channels live on the platform: PFM, QSR/on-premise, cash & carry, SD customers, and liquor distributors
  • 03Ordering moved online, with account queries handled via WhatsApp instead of the call centre
